ZANTAC ACTION MECHANISM
Zantac is competitive and reversible, histamine type-2 receptor antagonists (also called as H2 blockers). It acts by preventing the activation of acid production thereby indirectly reducing stomach acidity. Zantac also relieves heartburn associated with acid indigestion and sour stomach.
ZANTAC DOSAGE
Zantac can be taken at the same time daily with or without food. Zantac dosage depends upon severity of condition.
150 mg or 2 tsp of Zantac syrup per day at bedtime is usually recommended for healing duodenal and gastric ulcers. For stomach ulcer, GERD or erosive esophagitis, usual dose of 150 mg or 2 tsp of Zantac syrup twice a day is taken.
