Augmentin inhibits cross-linkage of linear peptidoglycan polymer chain, which is major component of both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria cell walls. Hence, Augmentin inhibits bacterial call wall synthesis.
AUGMENTIN DOSAGE
Take Augmentin dosage as exactly prescribed by your doctor and with a glass full of water. Usual adult dosage of Augmentin is 500mg tablet for every 12 hours or 250-mg tablet every 8 hours, one hour prior to meal.

Augmentin is found to be effective for various bacterial infections in individuals resistant to penicillin or other antibiotic treatment.
