Cytotex is recommended for stomach ulcers in patients who take NSAIDs medicines like ibuprofen,aspirin and naproxen and who are at high risk of complications from ulcers. Misoprostol is active ingredient of Cytotec (misoprostol) oral tablets which is a synthetic prostaglandin E1 analog.

CYTOTEC ACTION MECHANISM
Prostaglandins are chemicals which are believed to protect the inner lining of stomach from ulcer-producing effects of NSAIDs. NSAIDs produce ulceration by preventing production of prostaglandins in stomach. Cytotec when given orally \"replace\" prostaglandins whose production were inhibited by NSAIDs and thus protect the lining of stomach from NSAID-induced ulcers.
CYTOTEC DOSAGE
The recommended adult oral dose of Cytotec (misoprostol) is 200 mcg four times a day with food. And if this dose cannot be tolerated, a dose of 100 mcg can be used.
CYTOTEC ADVANTAGES
Cytotec is believed to decrease your risk of serious ulcer complications such as bleeding. It is also used to assist with childbirth only at the time of delivery (e.g., cervical ripening, induction of labor) and for treatment of severe bleeding after delivery.
CYTOTEC SIDE EFFECTS
Most common side effects of Cytotec that don’t produce any serious complications are headache, dizziness, nausea, mild diarrhea, stomach upset, menstrual irregularity, spotting, or cramps. Cytotec may cause mild to moderate complications such as severe diarrhea, chest pain, sudden shortness of breath, unusual vaginal bleeding, pelvic pain, or cramping and fainting spells.
